Volunteer Information
The following was assembled to help answer some frequently asked questions that folks have regarding the purpose and structure of River Cities Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc. An activity of this kind cannot be offered without the help of many dedicated volunteers. We thank you for your time and your eagerness to assist those who would like to try a new experience. . they cannot do it without you! Dedicated people from all walks of life team up to give riders opportunities and experiences that make differences in their physical, mental, social and emotional well being. Our goal is to provide a volunteer team for each rider so both the riders and volunteers can benefit from continuity and establish a lasting relationship of trust with one another. Moreover, special volunteers will be able to share knowledge, guidance, patience and love with the rider. A professional, safety-conscious environment for our riders, volunteers and horses is also of major importance to us. Volunteers play a key role in achieving this goal.
As a volunteer, you will be part of a professional team. We have a lot of fun, seeing smiles, hearing giggles, and viewing accomplishment first hand. Therapeutic riding, done in. a professional and safety-conscious manner, brings feelings of boundless joy and accomplishment for all those involved.
During our volunteer training program, held in the spring, we provide you with a handbook that has been designed as a reference for your orientation to our center. Volunteer duties, tips on working with horses and the disabled, and safety information are included. Whether you are attending a formal orientation or joining us after a session has already begun, we hope this information will be of continued benefit to you now and in the future. For those wanting more information about horses, disabilities, or therapeutic riding we encourage you to use our "library" in the riding center tack room and ask questions. Every joy in our operation is integral to overall success. Your involvement is important in maintaining our commitment to excellence. Thank you so much for your interest and commitment!
